Introduction
The T2080 QorIQ multicore processor combines four dualthreaded e6500 Power Architecture® processor cores for a total of eight threads with high-performance datapath acceleration logic and network and peripheral bus interfaces required for networking, telecom/datacom, data center, wireless infrastructure, and mil/aerospace applications.

Summary of benefits
This chip can be used for combined control, datapath, and application layer processing in data centers, WAN optimization controllers, application delivery controllers, routers, switches, gateways, application and storage servers, and general-purpose embedded computing systems. It delivers approximately two times the computing horsepower of the P2040 and P3041, Freescales current flagship mid-range QorIQ multicore SoC. Like other QorIQ SoCs, this chips high level of integration offers significant space, weight, and power benefits compared to multiple discrete devices.

APPLICATION examples
   This chip is well-suited for applications that are highly compute-intensive, I/O-intensive, or both.
