7.10 Motor control
The spindle motor is controlled by a fully integrated digital servo sub-system within the SAA7392. Information from the
data FIFO, data recovery PLL and tacho inputs may be used to calculate the motor control output signals.
The frequency set-point, the FIFO settings and coefficients G, Ki and Kf are all programmable using the seven motor
control registers. The motor can be controlled in either Pulse Width Mode (PWM) or Pulse Density Mode (PDM).
The tacho control subsystem allows a range of different motor tacho systems to be used, the modes and prescalers are
programmable via the tacho register set. (Note due to pin multiplexing, PWM motor control mode and CAV mode using
tacho control are mutually exclusive).
